If you click on the main hut in your village it gives you access to the village editor. There is an option to add a musical instrument hut to the village, plop that down and then instruct your villages to pick up some instruments and then guide them over to the village that you wish to ally with and get them to play the correct instruments (the controls will appear in the green social panel at the bottom) when you see the thought bubbles.

Simplest way is hook it up to your desktop, and "share" the printer so the laptop can use it when they're both on the same network. As your laptop probably already access the router, you're already ON the same network.
